Downloaded for free from the Apple App store, iProjection links to the whole range of Apple devices, from the iPhone to the iPad, as well as being compatible with online file-sharing services such as Dropbox. Brian Savarese, product manager at Epson America, expects the new application to be a great success; allowing not just those in the business world but educators too to make the most of their wireless devices when presenting facts and images to an audience or classroom.

The app means that business travellers can cut down substantially on the amount of equipment they need to take on the road with them when giving external presentations. As long as the venue has an Epson projector at the venue, and the brand has been number one in the US for some times so there is every reason to expect that it will, all presenters need is their material on an iPad or iPhone and iProjection app itself downloaded onto their device.

Teachers and presenters are no longer stuck at the front of the room, able to use wireless capabilities of iProjection to move among their audience or students while retaining control of the material on display. The iProjection app can also access Word and Excel files saved on the cloud as well as those contained within emails sent to Gmail accounts.

Samsung are targeting a group of consumers which are unable to afford the smart phones at the high end of the market and it offers a solution that is capable of dealing with almost all types of applications that are available to smart phones today.

The device is not as powerful as most of the leading phones on the market but it is slightly smaller than most of them in length and width, in thickness it is exactly the same as an iPhone 4. Inside the device you will find that it is basically a scaled-down version of what some of the top smartphones are offering.

You will find a slightly slower processor as well as less memory. It also comes with a lower megapixel camera and a slightly smaller screen. The front of the smart phone is very similar to the iPhone but the back is very different. There is a removable back cover so you can access the battery and this has a good amount of grip so that the phone feels good in the hand.

Interestingly, Samsung have included an alternative back cover but it does not have grip and instead has a cheap rather plastic feel. Despite feeling quite cheap, the device feels heavy but not overly so. It feels good in the hand and there is a cover over the charging port which is very convenient. This covers stops dust coming into the device and keeps everything clean.

Currently the device is operating Android 2.2 but the chances are that when it reaches consumers hands it will be running 2.3.3. This updated system allows better access to Gmail as well as helping with the efficiency of the battery.

The touchscreen is not as good as on some other devices and it feels as if all of the actions are slightly delayed, this is not a major problem unless you are planning on gaming on the device. If you want a perfect touchscreen device then you are going to have to pay far more than the cost of this phone which is clearly targeted at a lower end of the market.

The look of the software on the device is not very glamorous and the various application icons are placed around the home screen in a rather haphazard manner. This makes the whole device look rather bland and the graphics on it are not particularly impressive. What is good about this phone is that it is reliable, the web browser is capable of surfing almost all websites but as with many other smart phones there is still no flash compatibility.

The device does not come with much on-board memory but there is a micro SD card slot for expansion which means you can store whatever you like on it. Those buying the device will be given a two gigabyte card included. The camera on the device has 5MP and captures impressive photos and there are many adjustments that a user can make to the photos on board the device. The LED flash does a good job of lighting up dark scenes you might be photographing.

One of the most anticipated Android smartphones of 2011 is the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, given the fact that its outward appearance is not only stunning, but also because it was the first smartphone to hit the market that featured the Ice Cream Sandwich by Android.

Formally known as Android 4.0, most people wanted the mobile phone simply to see how the new upgrade of the Android OS would operate as the actual specs of the Galaxy Nexus were not that stunning when placed on paper besides other. However, toss in the new OS and a great 4.65” Super-AMOLED display and the balance is a bit better.

Of course, now that it is out, the real jury can actually start to weigh it up as people have now had about a month to use it. First off, in order to sport this much larger display the mobile has grown heavier which some users are responding to and others or not. It does feel sturdier than the Samsung Galaxy S2, but once again it is up to the individual to decide if they like this or not and those who carry in their pockets may fall on the other side of the debate.

Taking a look at the top of the mobile phone you can see where the five megapixel camera eye is built into the mobile, which is a funny choice given the fact that Samsung usually installs much better cameras for its phones. It is nice that they left the logo out of the design of the phone because after paying a few hundred pounds for a mobile phone and locking yourself into an expensive contract it’s nice to know that you can carry your phone without offering free advertising of the product for the company.

The actual casing of the phone is made out of a thin plastic which is a bit flimsy looking but seems to hold up fine and nicely compliments the curved glass design of the front that was first seen on the Nexus S. There is not one physical button on the mobile which is different than the previous Android phones which all had their set of basic commands (Menu, Back, Home, and Search). Likely this was taken out to allow for the larger display and a trend that it would be nice to see continue on Android mobiles.

The top of the mobile does not have any ports or buttons which is nice since it’s always awkward to plug in something from the top, but along the bottom you will find a 3.5mm audio hack and a USB port allowing for full use of the phones capabilities.

Finally, if the Galaxy Nexus has one standout feature outside of the Ice Cream Sandwich it is the Super-AMOLED display which offers top of the line colour saturation and contrast, allowing images to come across the way they should. The attention to detail is excellent due to the fact that every pixel on the phone emits its own light.

Today, you would struggle to believe that only a year has passed with the number of tablet PCs available in stores.

Motorola recently announced the release of the XOOM 2 which it is hoping will be a device that is going to challenge the Apple iPad, and hopefully take its lead in the market. The device is aesthetically pleasing and has rubbery sides which make it easy to grip onto, which already give it an edge over the iPad 2 before you even switch it on.

The corners are angled and this means you can easily tell it apart from the original model that Motorola previously released. The long sides of the device are straight at the top and bottom have a slight curve which are reminiscent of the smart phones that Motorola released previously .

Unusually, the power button of the devices is located on the back which means that you can sometimes accidentally press it when you are holding the device with your fingers, it is also similarly easy to accidentally change the volume when you are holding the device.

There is also a long lag after you have pressed the power button and before the screen will switch on and this means you can be pressing the button continuously before you realise you’ve got a response. This device could learn a lot from Apple when you consider the placement of the volume and power buttons and how quickly they respond to touch.

This new device is lighter than its predecessor by a significant 130 grams. It is also lighter than the iPad 2 but is around the same thickness. As for an operating system, it uses Android version 3.2 but Motorola has added its own touch to the operating system. The device is also advertised as being splashproof as it did well in testing against this.

The streaming service that comes with the device has been greatly improved and it is possible to stream video, photos and music by using the MotoCast. You can even easily connect the device to your computer so that you can share files between the two. Intelligently, the software required for the computer is included in the tablet device so you can plug it into your laptop in order to install the sharing program.

The screen is 10.1 inches and is excellent for viewing media, especially media that is being streamed from MotoCast. Pictures don’t need to buffer most of the time and video only requires a short amount of time to start working. File sharing security is also excellent because your files are not uploaded to another server, they are directly accessed from your PC on your tablet.

The disadvantage of this is that your computer has to be on in order for you to access the documents. This system also has the advantage that you will not just be able to access the files from the tablet but at any computer that has an internet connection.

The processor in this new device is fast and it runs the new operating system very well. The only disadvantage that could be seen with the device is the placement of the power button but other than that it is a good contender to the iPad.

They look like twins that were separated at birth and if it wasn’t for the fact that it has Samsung on it, you would put money on the Galaxy Tab 10.1 actually being an iPad.

The German courts agreed with Apple and have banned the sale of it for infringement of patent. Similar skirmishes in the courts of Australia, South Korea and Japan are currently in progress and the outlook seems bleak after the German ruling,

It’s such a shame that it has come to this as it could so easily have been avoided. The current design team at Samsung seems to consist of one guy with a photocopier, which is a sharp contrast to the days when the Korean company where praised for the chic and elegant hardware they produced.

The ironic part of all this is that the Tab 10.1 is the best tablet by far that Samsung have so far produced, it has beautiful proportions and is also fast and very light. Do not confuse this however with the Tab 10.1V, which looks like the iPad’s incestuous cousin, but the one who ate all the pies.

This new and much improved Galaxy Tab 10.1 is slimmed down to the point that it is actually lighter than an iPad, but a tad wider. Herein lies the dilemma for the tablet buyer. If you can buy the iPad’s doppelganger for the same price that lacks the vast array of software available for your iPad, why would you bother not buying the real thing?

Apple currently command over 75% of the tablet market, and sell more iPad’s than all the other tablets put together, and unless Android suddenly makes a massive technological breakthrough that nobody saw coming, their dominance will continue. Sure, Android give you the old faithfuls on the tablets; Twitter, Facebook, Angry Birds etc, but the list isn’t very long compared the tens of thousands you can get from the Apple app store.

It is a tablet capable of performing many of the tasks that others in the market can do but it is at a significantly lower cost. The device is running the Android operating system from Google and many people predict that it is going to change the way the tablet industry operates.

The device has a 7 inch screen and has been launched off the back of the success of Amazon’s previous Kindle e-readers. Currently, the market is being dominated by the Apple iPad which is one of the most expensive devices in the market and many people are saying other tablet options are simply devices for people who cannot afford the Apple product.

Many companies in the market thought that people were only after high-end tablets but when HP announced that they would be having a fire sale of their tablet this proved that there was a demand for affordable products in the market. The device going to be offered in the UK for around £120 and Amazon have said that they hope to replicate the success they have had with their e-book readers.

Amazon has a significant advantage over the other tablets in the market in that it does not have to worry about the hardware being profitable. Essentially they can create a tablet device and then rely on the book sales to make up for the loss.

The device is the first from Amazon to not be using their own operating software but the Android operating system has been highly customised by the company and this takes precedence when you’re using it. The device has caused a great deal of excitement in the tablet industry.

For those who were first using the device they noted that it was very similar to the Playbook that was offered by RIM. Amazon are probably hoping though that users feel this is where the similarities between the two devices end. The device has the same 7 inch screen as the offering from RIM and it has a rubberised casing that make it very easy to hold.

The device feels very well built and unlike some other tablets in the market it has the feeling that it is going to last for a long time. There are no buttons on the front of the device which makes it look very clean and the power button, headphone jack, and ports are located very close together which makes the whole device very neat, however, the headphone jack would probably be better placed on top of the device.

There are no cameras on the device so those wishing to video chat will be disappointed and there is also no GPS sensor installed. Amazon is clearly pitching this device is a media reader and not as a communication device. At the price though you can hardly complain about that.

This computer is only 11 inches wide and joins several other ultrabooks that have recently entered the market, including offerings by Toshiba and Lenovo.

Ultrabooks are a different offering from the netbooks that are currently on the market and they offer power that is capable of rivalling a larger laptop but everything has been fitted into a much smaller case. Many people regard the first ultrabook as the MacBook Air from Apple. This new offering from Asus is appealing in the same way that the Apple equivalent is, it is incredibly sleek and good-looking and it is sure to draw glances from other people sitting around you.

The computer is powered by a 1.6 GHz Core i5 processor and has a 128 GB solid-state hard disk. The specifications mean that the device operates incredibly quickly. Asus have managed to fit a great amount of power into a very small case and many critics are saying that this is the best ultrabook currently on the market. The processor at 1.6 GHz is relatively slow, and this is to keep power usage down, but the processor has four cores which means that it is capable of processing most tasks very quickly and efficiently.

The computer also has 4 GB of RAM, which is twice as much as the Apple and it is a significant amount cheaper. The device is on sale for just under £850, while the MacBook Air sells for around £1000. For those who enjoy the Apple operating system, it will not be able to use this on the Asus as it is running Windows 7. The computer also has a state-of-the-art USB 3.0 port which has just been released.

The computer weights in at just 1.2 kg and is less than a centimetre thick at its thickest point. Despite its very small dimensions, when you use the computer you will feel as if it is well built and would be able to deal with any upset it may encounter. As soon as you see the device and compare it to the MacBook Air you know that it is a contender. The build quality of both devices is absolutely superb and there is no flex in either of them.

Despite the keyboard being small it is very easy to type on it and the keys offer a very nice response. Of course, as with any netbook sized keyboard you are going to make more mistakes than you would on a full-size keyboard but there’s nothing you can do about this unless you want to compromise on size.

For those who need to type a lot then it would be a better idea to go with a slightly larger brother of this ultrabook, the Asus Zenbook UX21 which is 13 inches wide. Another alternative is the Acer Aspire S3, another very small computer with a great deal of power inside. The screen on the device is excellent and the colours are vibrant and sharp.

It comes with a rubberised coating and metallic dials and it has the same sensor that is featured on the X10 compact camera.

The camera also features Intelligent Digital Zoom which is an innovation by Fuji film that effectively allows the camera to have a focal length double its normal capacity. According to Fuji, this means that the zoom is greatly increased without compromising on the picture quality.

17 glass elements make up the lens which includes two ED lenses and four aspherical elements, this means that the camera will be able to deliver great clarity and sharpness. The camera is also capable of macro photography due to its Super Macro Mode. This allows users of the camera to achieve focus at a distance as small as 1 cm. When shooting in normal mode the camera is capable of focusing on things 30 cm away or further.

Fuji claims that the sensor within the camera can deliver high-quality photographs no matter what the lighting conditions. The camera has different modes built into it for different conditions and even the user can manually select these or the camera can do it for them.

There is a high-speed processor in the camera which means that the shutter lag time is very short and just 0.01 seconds. The camera is capable of shooting 10 frames a second when set at six megapixels, at its maximum resolution it is capable of capturing seven pictures a second.

As you would expect from a modern digital camera it has high-definition video recording which shoots at 30 frames per second. The camera also features an excellent LCD screen.

This is probably because they have a very futuristic appeal and offer a promise of virtual reality. The technology is certainly nothing new and Sony first released video headsets in the 1990s.

This device is rather different to the one that the company has recently announced and the new device by Sony is probably one of the most advanced viewing systems for personal use on the market. It is significantly more advanced than the other major player in the headset market, Vuzix.

The Sony devices have good connectivity and it displays images in high-definition and this can be inputted into a TV through an HDMI cable. It also has 3-D functionality which can be enjoyed through a Blu-ray player.

The devices is only being made available through Sony stores and the price is high, suggesting that it is not going to be an item for the mass market. The device is probably going to be seen as an option for people who don’t have the space for a large high-definition 3-D television, the £800 pricetag also means that the device will probably mean that you can afford either one or the other.

The marketing that Sony has released about the player suggest that it is more similar to sitting in the cinema than it is to watching a large flat screen in your home. There is a 45° viewing angle used in the device and this helps add to the cinema effect. The device also has excellent sound and this is easily adjustable from buttons on the headset. Unlike some other devices on the market, the Sony device is not designed to be used on the move, it does not have a battery pack.

The Lumia 800 is the new mobile phone that has been launched by Nokia and it is the first Nokia handset to be using the operating system by Microsoft, Windows Phone 7. Initial sales of the phone have suggested that it is going to be the first blockbuster smart phone for Microsoft as they are able to cash in on the devotion of Nokia fans.

Many loyal fans of Nokia’s have found that the operating system they previously ran on is not up to scratch and that is let down what otherwise excellent phones. Utilisation of Microsoft’s operating system is expected to greatly improve the overall phone experience and increase the number of people buying Nokia. Despite these advantages, it is facing some serious competition from the Samsung Galaxy S2 as well as the Apple iPhone 4S.

When you first look at the device, you will instantly notice that it is not as attractive as the Apple and Samsung counterparts. Compared to these beautiful devices it looks positively dull, nothing more than a plasticky black rectangle. The iPhone is a very nice looking device and it really feels as expensive as it is, and this is simply not true of the latest Nokia offering. Despite its aesthetic failings it is a much more sturdy device than the competitors and holding it you will really feel how it will be more resistant than an iPhone or a Samsung Galaxy.

The operating system on the iPhone is incredibly intuitive and even if you are picking the phone up for the first time it is likely will very quickly be able to work out how to use it. Android is a system that is very nice looking, in a similar way to the iPhone, but it is not so easy to get used to. Many people have compared the android operating system to a desktop computer system.

The Windows system is also different and it has not been is tried and tested as it’s more established counterparts. First impressions have generally been positive though and something called ‘live tiles’ is particular popular.

The screen on the devices the same size as that on an iPhone, and this is slightly smaller than the Samsung’s. When comparing the iPhone to the Samsung Galaxy, most people would agree that the iPhone has a better screen. The whites are better and text appears more crisp which makes reading on it very easy. The screen that is seen on the new Nokia offering is as good as the iPhone’s and this is certainly good enough.

When you compare the speed of the device it is about the same as the Samsung but a little bit behind the Apple. Considering that it only has one core compared to the other devices dual cores this is rather impressive and is a testament to the quality of the operating system that Microsoft have supplied. Also, having the single core means that the battery is exhausted far less quickly than its dual core competitors.
